Cast House Area Lead

Extruded Solutions is Hydro’s largest and most global business area. Our Business Area supplies aluminum profiles and profile-based solutions in various applications ranging from windows and furniture to cars and cruise ships. Within Extruded Solutions, we have business area staff functions based in Oslo, but we also have four core business units; Extrusion Europe, Extrusion North America, Building Systems and Precision Tubing.
 

Summary:

 

  • Successful Candide will be responsible for Safety, Quality, Cost and Productivity, along with Employee Relations and Development, for Your Area of Assignment.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching for Supervisors and Group Leaders.
  • Collaborates as a Member of the Cast House Lead Team to optimize Department performance. 
  • Partners with All Plant Functions including HSE, HR, SCM, Finance, Engineering and Maintenance, and Other Production Departments, for the success of Hydro Cressona.
  • Develop and Sponsor Experiments to support Genesis Principles and drive positive change.
  • Drafts and Executes a Department Business Plan (A3) to align with the Location Business Plan.
  • Participation in the Annual Budget Process and Budget Adherence to Cost Center targets.
  • Sets Cascading Goals and Objectives through the Performance Management Process for Yourself and Direct Report Team.
  • Fosters an Employee Development Culture where-in Hourly Team Members have Performance Appraisals and an Individually Tailored Development Plan in accordance with Location practices.
  • Part of the Direct Help Chain for Supervisors, Group Leaders and Team Members.
  • Coordinate Non-Standard Activities (Shutdown, Preventive Maintenance, Installation or Upgrade).
  • Creation of Business Case Justification for Key Capital and Major Expenditures required to sustain and improve the operation.
  • Communicates Effectively with the Department Manager and performs required backup support.
  • Responsible for Training of all Indirect Hourly Team members in all relevant procedures including but not limited to Molten Metal, JSA, SOP, Compliant Pro and All Relevant Policy and Procedure.
  • Responsible for communicating Hiring needs to the Area Manager and HR to maintain effective headcount levels to support the business.
  • Accountable for all Quality, Compliance and audit-related activity as it relates to the Production Processes in Your Area of Responsibility (Scrap Inspection, Charging, Melting and Casting, etc.).
  • Provides a work environment conducive of Mutual Trust and Respect and Employee Engagement with focus on driving a Reward and Recognition Culture with All Leaders and Team Members.
  • Responsible for compliance to All Critical 9 HSE Protocols with focus on Molten Metal Safety.
  • Develop and Sustain a Robust 5S/Housekeeping System and Shop Floor Culture.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 Years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
  • Experience in Molten Metal Safety and Proficiency with Charge and Cast Practices is preferred.

 

 

Education and Work Requirements:

  • High School or GED Equivalent
