Reliability Engineer

Job Location: Sidney, OH


Summary: This position reports directly to the Plant Manager. The position is responsible for implementing, developing and leading Continuous Reliability Improvement (CRI) for the Sidney, OH location. This individual will perform a variety of engineering assignments to increase equipment efficiency and reliability on a profit improvement basis.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform failure mode and reliability engineering analysis using various reliability-based tools such as RCA and FMEA to develop and implement improvement.
  • Define equipment criticality using production data, CMMS data, cost of failure data, equipment history data, etc.
  • Define, develop and optimize a Preventative (PM) and Predictive (PdM) maintenance strategy to increase uptime while reducing mechanical/production downtime.
  • Lead and manage of variety of engineering improvement projects.  Provide design concepts using 2D/3D drawings and models, present cost savings and timelines for all projects.
  • Lead Kaizen events engaging production and maintenance team members using RCA and Lean Manufacturing tools to drive a reliability culture with a focus on increasing uptime.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with production and maintenance by being a change management coach/trainer driving improvement in support of the plants KPI’s and budget.



Job Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively by being open minded and having excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify waste and the business value associated with its elimination.
  • Ability to make data driven decisions to improve plant profitability.
  • Highly motivated self-starter capable of bringing out the best in people thru reward and recognition.
  • Expert knowledge of MVP, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of TPM
  • Ability to present a positive unified front to all employees, reinforcing the goals, strategies, and personal commitment of the Hydro team.
  • Team Player; Self-Starter; Adaptable to change



Education and Work Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline such as Mechanical or Industrial preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum 3-5 years manufacturing or industrial experience.  Experience in fabrication manufacturing is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Green/Black belt a plus
