The Hydro Graduate Program - The starting point for your Hydro career
In Hydro we have focus on hiring and developing the workforce of tomorrow. Every year we have several Graduate positions, where we are looking for young professionals early in their careers. All positions are permanent, within different business units and areas of expertise, but all graduate positions will take part in the graduate program. 

 

Graduate Project Engineer- Årdal
The Technology and Operational Support (TOS) unit is part of Hydro’s Aluminium Metal business area and has around 180 employees in Norway and Germany. The main task of TOS is to support commercial and operational units in improving Aluminium Metal’s profitability and sustainability in the short and medium term - while also having longer term technology development as a core activity.

 

The IOS Carbon department has a portfolio mix of R&D and plant support activities related to anode production in Norway and at our Joint Venture smelters abroad; raw materials, production processes, product quality and environment.

 

Area of responsibility
This position will actively contribute to Hydro’s sustainability and improvement agenda in which process optimization and technology development are of high importance. The candidate holding the position will contribute both to existing projects and take part in shaping future projects for TOS and Hydro.

 

The right candidate will build competence within carbon anode production in order to develop technology and optimize processes. Focus will be to strengthen the raw materials and laboratory competence area; participate in all stages from idea, development, testing, verification, implementation and follow-up. There will be a close cooperation with Hydro’s plants. The position requires both theoretical and practical skills.  Main tasks will be:

  • Follow up on anode raw materials; anode quality, cost & availability, environment, greener perspective
  • Laboratory support and contribute on laboratory strategy development
  • Operational support to Hydro's operations worldwide 
  • Act as a link between technology and operation 

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree within Material technology, Nano technology, Chemical engineering and biotechnology, Chemistry or other relevant fields of study
  • Interest, experience and knowledge to be used in an Industry 4.0 setting 
  • Laboratory skills
  • Good academic results 
  • Good communication and cooperation skills
  • Fluency in English and Norwegian, both oral and in written
