The Position

Technology and Operations Support (TOS) is responsible for development and implementation of new technology, and operational support to Hydro’s smelters in Norway and abroad. TOS has an exciting agenda, working towards achieving zero emission aluminium production through initiatives like recycling, carbon capture & storage (CCS) solutions, groundbreaking new process technology and digital solutions. TOS is a highly skilled organization in Hydro with over 200 employees connected to our technology hubs in Norway and Germany.
 

We are looking for a Graduate Project Engineer to strengthen our team in the Products and Analytics group in TOS IOS Electrolysis. IOS is short for Integrated Operational Support and is a key responsibility of our group, providing support to Hydro’s aluminium electrolysis plants in Norway and abroad.

 

Key responsibilities

As a graduate in IOS Electrolysis you will be part of a team that work in close collaboration with the plant operation to maintain high and sustainable performance in Hydro’s  electrolysis plants.

 

Key responsibilities are

  • Operational support, process control and optimization.
  • Implementation of new technology and digital tools.
  • Analytics
  • Operational support, modelling and optimization of digital twins.

Qualifications

  • Master or PhD in Cybernetics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Data Science or similar fields.
  • Programming and analytic skills
  • Maximum two years of full-time work experience after graduation
  • Fluent in Norwegian and English 
  • Extracurricular activities and/or voluntary work will be considered advantageous.

 

Additional Information

The position is based in Årdal. Årdal is home to Årdal Reference Center, Hydro’s test arena for electrolysis technology and the Årdal plant and offers a unique opportunity to work in a cutting-edge technology environment in combination with access to spectacular nature with endless opportunities year-round. Some travel is expected. For the right candidate, a future transfer to one of the other Norwegian plant sites could be considered.
