Product Manager APICS Carbon

Hydro Aluminium Metal a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of around 5,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and in the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.

The Technology and Operational Support (TOS) unit is part of Hydro’s Aluminium Metal business area and has around 200 employees in Norway and Germany. The main task of TOS is to support commercial and operational units in improving Aluminium Metal’s profitability and sustainability in the short and medium term - while also having longer term technology development as a core activity.
 
Digital Production Support department in TOS is driving the digital development together with the Operational Support departments. We focus on cross functional Product Teams, DevOps and agile methodology to deliver value from digital transformation in the production area. Together with our long proven APICS and HAL3/5000 solutions we are now focusing on developing and deploying digital tools within maintenance, as well as analytical platforms in cloud and IIoT solutions in the plants worldwide.   

 

Our core MES system, APICS, is expanding rapidly within Carbon production, and we are now looking for the right candidate to lead our agile product team within this production area.

Our key areas to focus on in the time to come: 

  • Development and implementations of the in-house developed MES system portfolio.
  • Take part in exiting technology development activities within our programs towards climate neutral production of aluminium. 
     

Key areas of responsibility:

  • As a Product Manager you will lead development of our APICS Carbon MES portfolio.
  • Take part in strategic planning and project execution.  
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of product roadmaps.
  • Communication and facilitation of cooperations between agile development team and business operation. 
  • End to end accountable for the delivery of the product towards the product owner
  • Interacts with the product owner on the impact of the requirements and product roadmap
  • Lead and work with the product (delivery) team to translate requirements to cost and timeline.
  • Works with the product owner to prioritize the backlog based on costs, timeline and other requirements
  • Interact with underlying products (platforms, services etc.) needed to deliver the product (e.g. service desk, hosting, integration etc.)

 

Desired qualifications
We are looking for candidates with a strong foundation and professional background in software development, digital solutions, and project management. You must have a creative mindset with the ability to innovate and deliver efficient and user-friendly solutions. Background and knowledge from the aluminium industry is a solid advantage.

 

  • University degree (bachelor’s or master’s degree), from e.g. automation, IT, cybernetics, computer science, software engineering or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience with software engineering related work
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge within programming languages such as Java, Phyton, C++ etc.
  • Expirience with leading a competent development team
  • Relevant experience can compensate for formal education.
  • Flexibility in working with different teams and tasks.
  • Ability to produce high quality content consistently and efficiently.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken. Professional working proficiency in Norwegian, German or Brazilian Portuguese is an asset, but not a prerequisite.

Additional Information 
The Digital Production Support department is currently located in Årdal and Sunndal. The team works closely with Aluminum Metal operation and business assets, with currently 33 resources working with Digital product development and management.
 
The positions will require some business travel.
