Sustainability & LCA Engineer

We are looking for a passionate specialist on sustainability that aims to help organizations reducing their environmental footprints with solid analysis skills in Life Cycle Assessment. 


The LCA Specialist will be part of Hydro Extrusions business areas and its 4 business units, and the work will directly impact our operations and our solutions footprints.  He/she will be responsible for determining environmental impacts through the use of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) on operations and products, including required support for certifications.


The position report to the Head of Sustainability of Hydro Extrusions and collaborates closely within a multi-functional environmental with the Sustainability teams, Strategy, Finance Operational Excellence, EHS, Product development and application engineers.  Further collaboration as well with communication and marketing to translate the technical information for internal and external uses.

Areas of responsibility:


  • Contribute to position Hydro as a leader in sustainability
  • Develop life cycle assessments and related tools for operations, process and products
  • Steward our CO2 footprint data on operations and products
  • Give LCA support for certifications, regulations, audits etc…
  • Support and manage external publications of LCA results and product data in Environmental Product Declarations and other related documents
  • Materials management – provides environmental impact analysis of materials and processes in support of product innovation
  • Monitor the related LCA standards, norms and best practices


Key qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in technical, environmental science, engineering, or related field. 
  • 3+ years of professional experience in Life Cycle Assessment
  • Experience in a position requiring extensive quantitative work and data analysis & management
  • Demonstrated proficiency using LCA software (GaBi and/or Simapro preferred)
  • Good understanding of related sustainability topics
  • Fast learning skills and willingness to improve constantly
  • Rigorous and organized with teamwork attitude
  • Fluent in English, additional languages considered an advantage
  • Experience in Microsoft Office package, primarily PowerPoint and Excel


Personal Qualifications:


  • The ability to work independently, and provide accurate and timely information and services to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to project confidence
  • Motivation to work in a demanding environment, some travel must be expected
  • Curiosity, drive and willingness to learn


Location: TBD, Hydro locations.

Some business trips can be expected over Europe.
