Solution Architect, MES Integrations
Hydro Global Business Services (GBS) is an organizational area that operates as an internal service provider for the Hydro group. Its ultimate purpose is to deliver relevant IT, financial and HR business services to all business areas within the company.
About the job and your team
The solution architect is responsible for translating business requirements into solutions in Hydro’s strategic MES system.
Specific focus for this solution architect is integrations between MES & ERP/Quality management systems. This includes the what (which messages, content of messages) and in consultation with the development team also the how (technologies, monitoring).
Hands-on mentality expected, meaning willing and able to work on project & support activities (configuration, training, testing, issue resolution etc..) where needed.
You will work on
The solution architect is involved in implementation projects and operational activities related to Hydro’s strategic MES system.
Main responsibilities are the following:
• Ensure that all solutions, whether it’s configurations or software developments, fit and are aligned with Hydro’s overall strategic landscape covering ERP, Quality, maintenance, and process control.
• This means work in close liaison with internal customers (from Managing Director to operator), other teams in GBS (ERP, Quality management, process control) and 3rd party vendors where needed.
• Ensure solutions also follow other global (IT) standards and principles.
• Make sure that all solutions are template solutions (good-for-all) and that deviations are limited & justified.
• Create functional designs for software developments.
• Review functional designs for software developments made by other solution architects or functional specialists.
• Test new developments or support others during testing.
• Excellent understanding of the various needs and expectations from the MES user community. Good process knowledge to support and advise the implementation & operational support team(s) in analysis, prioritization, and resolution of MES issues.
• Represent the strategic MES system in Hydro’s implementation program and projects, especially during the so-called discovery phase where a GAP analysis is done between current and new strategic systems.

Your qualifications and skills
• Five to ten years working experience with MES system(s) (Hydra from MPDV preferred) in a hands-on environment.
• Experience with MES and ERP implementations.
• Experience with integrations (interfaces) between MES and ERP systems.
• Experience in hands-on project activities (or operational support) of MES systems.
• Expert level understanding of MES systems, modules, and underlying architecture design.
• Expert level understanding in MES system integrations with ERP, quality management or process control applications
• Well organized and capable of multi-tasking
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities
• Full lifecycle MES experience in manufacturing environment with specific understanding of manufacturing processes and operations.
• College or University (IT /Business Degree or Equivalent)
• Expert in depth understanding of business functions. Specific knowledge of at least one of the following modules: Manufacturing (shopfloor), MES/ERP integrations
• Expert knowledge on any MES system. Knowledge of ERP systems (especially SAP) is a plus.
• Strong spoken and written English
• Ability to work in an organized and structured way
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Travel needs: up to 25% globally
