Cost Estimator
Hydro is one of the main suppliers of aluminium extrusions committed to delivering high finish products to the automotive and engineering industries within the UK and European markets. Due to our on-going expansion, we are currently looking for a Cost Estimator to join our fast paced manufacturing site in Bedwas, Caerphilly.

Role Purpose:
- Interpret engineering drawings to identify current and new processes required for efficient manufacture of customer products to specific requirements and specifications.
- Technical liaison responsible of advising customers in design for manufacture and reducing manufacturing costs.
- Ability to advise design for efficient manufacture (CAD design experience preferred)
- Review technical specifications to identify conformance (Experienced with Automotive technical specifications preferred)
- Arrange Feasibility analysis review with Hydro engineering and quality representatives.
- Agree process cost estimates with Hydro engineering team.
- Ability to provide accurate process cycle times estimates (CADCAM experience preferred)
- Liaise with Hydro Extrusion to identify optimum supply of extruded profiles.
- Create RFQ information packs for component suppliers.
- Technical liaison with all suppliers responsible for communication of all customer requirements
- Compile accurate detailed internal costing sheets (ICS)
- Maintain database of standard costs for reference to enable efficient quotation
- Liaise with other Hydro sites and suppliers to establish best practices for costing and identify new processes.
Work Experience and Education Specific Skills
- 3 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering or Technical sales role
- Experience of CNC Machining extruded aluminium products
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related subject
- CNC programming and CADCAM skills (MasterCam preferred)
- Excellent 3D CAD skills (Solidworks preferred)
- Good level of MS office and IT competence
