About the job and your team
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for all HSE related management systems and associated activities in line with corporate, internal, legal and international industry standards. You will have one direct report where you will need to have an active role in their development.
You will work on
- Follow and promote company health, safety, and welfare policies.
- Develop and maintain HSE procedures and support their implementation.
- Lead the ‘HSE Champions’ meetings and initiatives on site.
- Mentor and develop the HSE Technician Apprentice.
- Ensure the plant complies with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) laws.
- Review and update HSE policies and risk assessments as needed.
- Implement corporate HSE initiatives at the plant.
- Help maintain ISO 14001 (environmental) and OHSAS 18001 (health and safety) certifications, and support ISO 45001 and 50001. Assist with ASI certification.
- Provide HSE support and advice to team members, whilst coaching and mentoring the management team where required.
- Conduct internal audits and inspections, and track resolutions. Support third-party and Hydro group audits and inspections.
- Manage computer and database systems, maintain records, and prepare documents.
- Plan and conduct in-house training as needed.
- Maintain HSE notice boards and communications.

Your qualifications and skills
Work Experience: Several years of experience in health and safety roles within the manufacturing industry, preferably in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
NEBOSH Certification or equivalent
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate safety protocols and procedures to all levels of staff.
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analysing data and identifying potential safety hazards.
Leadership Abilities: Capability to lead and motivate a team to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
You would also ideally have
Environmental qualification would be beneficial.
Experience in managing ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 is desirable.
