HSE Manager
Hydro Bauxite & Alumina includes one of the world's largest bauxite mines and the world's largest alumina refinery outside China, both in Brazil, representing two important raw materials for the production of our aluminium. Our more than 4,000 employees work at the mine in Paragominas and alumina refinery in Barcarena. In addition, we market alumina to external customers.

JOB LOCATION: COMMERCE, TX
SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE:
Lead and coordinate the development and training of safe work practices. Identify and eliminate workplace hazards while striving for an incident free workplace utilizing behavior-based safety practices and promote the organization's overall vision for a safe workplace.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implementation and application of Housekeeping and HSE principles
- Develop and maintain programs and policies such as ergonomics, hearing conservation, industrial hygiene and various other programs that promote the health and welfare of Hydro employees.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable internal (Hydro) and governmental regulations for safety, transportation, air, wastewater, hazardous waste, stormwater and any other applicable regulations.
- Develop and maintain programs and policies to comply with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
- Develop and maintain leading indicator strategies.
- Develop and coordinate all necessary safety training required by Hydro and governmental regulations, including lock/tag/verify, HAZCOM, mobile equipment, fall protection, molten metal safety, contractor safety, machine guarding, electrical safety, and confined space and other applicable topics.
- Ensuring external companies adhere to the Hydro standards
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

- Excellent understanding of Housekeeping and HSE principles with proven results
- Excellent communication and interaction skills
- Attention to detail with proven ability to research, analyse and solve problems
- Experience working in a team environment with ability to build and leverage cross-functional teams
- High level of energy, motivation and integrity, and a passion for results and excellence.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Undergraduate degree in technical discipline; and 5 years hands on experience with a progressive organization working with HSE; or equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous safety experience in metals industry preferred
- OSHA Training
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has one direct report, HSE Coordinator.
TRAVEL:
Light travel is expected for this position. Possible travel for training purposes (i.e., visits to other Hydro plant or training events) and 1-2 international trips for HSE Core Team meetings.
