Senior Extrusion Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary: 

 

The Maintenance Extrusion Senior Supervisor is a key member of the Maintenance Department Lead Team reporting to the Maintenance Department Manager. The successful candidate would be part of a succession plan preparing them for future advancement.  

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Key member of the Maintenance Department Lead Team to define and cascade departmental strategies.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability to achieve higher saleable capacity with a high degree of focus in the Extrusion Department.
  • Responsible for managing the base of Hydro attached Maintenance Contractors centered within the Extrusion Department work area.
  • Forge clear partnerships with all Hydro stakeholders including but not limited to Maintenance Department counterparts, Engineering and Extrusion operations to align 100% of Maintenance activities.
  • Progress the Maintenance organization to world-class service levels in the Preventative Maintenance areas of Planning, Kitting, Scheduling and Work Execution, and completing Major Rebuild projects.
  • Plan, Resource and Balance Improvements, Repairs and Preventative activities in the interest and progress toward World-Class Uptime levels with a high degree of focus in the Extrusion Department. 
  • Review Extrusion schedules and Coordinate maintenance activities with the Supply Chain and Operations Team to ensure end-product quality standards meet both internal/external customer specs.
  • Analyze Financial and EAM KPIs to identify key areas of opportunity, cost reduction, energy efficiency and optimize asset uptime and performance.
  • Ensure Machine Shift Inspections are robust and effectively identifying, documenting, and fixing pending equipment failures in a proactive and collaborative way with Operations.
  • Develop/Revise standard operational and work practices/tools to best available methods and technology.
  • Ensure observations of Shop Floor work are in place, organizationally and personally, for compliance.
  • Assure the following Maintenance activities are done safely with quality/precision, at low cost and timely. 
  • Routine Maintenance including PM and preservation activities
  • Maintenance back log relief, dealing with investigation, repairs, and restoration activities
  • Emergency response, immediate action to address breakdowns and other critical conditions.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a high performing Maintenance team and further develop a Reliability-centered culture on the Shop Floor to meet objectives and delivers best in-class results.
  • Participate in the management of labor including but not limited to weekly resource assignments, overtime management and output preservation resource reallocation.
  • Participate and facilitate problem solving session between Operation/Engineering and maintenance to eliminate repetitive failures.  Conduct Injury and Near-Miss investigations.
  • Develop systems and drive a balanced culture of reward and recognition and workmanship accountability to maximize maintenance craft wrench time and effectiveness.

  • Safety- Comply with Health, Safety & Environmental requirements
  • Language- Able to communicate orally and in writing effectively with Managers, supervisors, peers and subordinates
  • Other Skills- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change in an organization; Ability to “think outside the box” and “on your feet”.
     

 

Required Education/Experience:

  • Work Experience- Minimum of 5 - 10 years Maintenance and Reliability experience, and managing people
  • Education- Minimum of a High School Diploma required; A combination of technical school and experience in a similar role
