Maintenance Manager

Extruded Solutions is Hydro’s largest and most global business area. Our Business Area supplies aluminum profiles and profile-based solutions in various applications ranging from windows and furniture to cars and cruise ships. Within Extruded Solutions, we have business area staff functions based in Oslo, but we also have four core business units; Extrusion Europe, Extrusion North America, Building Systems and Precision Tubing.

Summary: The Maintenance Manager reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for the Safety of all maintenance team members and the efficient operation of all manufacturing equipment, buildings and grounds. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for executing capital projects on time and within budget and preserving the overall health of all assets within the facility. The Maintenance Manager is part of the plant Lead Team and is expected to be a strategic partner to the Plant Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • General and Task Management
  • Assure maintenance work is being done safely and meeting quality standards while staying within budget and determined timelines. 
  • Routine Maintenance: Includes PM plans and preservation actcivities such as lubrication, inspections, testing and PMD
  • CRI: Continuos Reliability Improvement thru predictive measures,
  • Emergency response: Immediate action to address breakdowns and other suddenly developed conditions.
  • Support/Sponsor planned work preparation and reduce unplanned downtime and improve machine operation.
  • Maintain the upkeep our our facilities and grounds.
  • Ensure we stay compliant with state on water discharge.
  • Participate and facilitate problem solving sessions between operations, engineering and maintenance to eliminate repetitive failures.
  • People Management
  • Manage maintenance team to ensure they are working on the correct priority items in a safe and quality manner.
  • Manage, coach and develop a high performing maintenance team that meets agreed objectives, and who deliver best practice results with added value and continuous improvement.
  • Set department objectives/KPIs and review ongoing performance of direct reports.



Job Requirements:

  • A basic understanding of safety principals
  • Ability to recognize risks & hazards
  • Basic computer application skills
  • Working knowledge of CMMS, MVP and/or other computer applications
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Understand how to read blue prints
  • Knowledge in PLC’s
  • Proficient in Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatic series associated with equipment. 
  • Ability to obtain proper estimates for projects
  • Ability to work in a team environment and delegate tasks
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to lead and guide others in decision making and problem solving
  • Climbing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling and Lifting
  • Exposure to electrical hazards, dust, smoke, fumes and hot and cold temperatures
  • Works with and around moving machinery
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as:  preparing and analysing data and figures; transcribing; viewing computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Employee is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as drill presses and power saws where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as mechanics, technicians, plumbers, painters, etc.
  • Employee is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned (i.e., custodial, general labor, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e. security guard).


Education and Work Requirements:

  • 5-10 years exerience in maintenance
  • 3-5 years leadership experience
  • Engineering degree preferred or combination of Technical school and experience in similar role
