Salary: $22.26 (Rate will be $1 less during probationary period – 900 hours worked).
Shifts Available and Hours:
- We are a unionized company
- New hires may be required to rotate shifts (Midnights, Afternoons and Day shift – the frequency of the rotation will be determined by the manager).
- Pension – with Canada Wide Industrial Pension Plan – employer and employee contributions (Employer - $1.57 per hour worked, Employee - $0.75 per hour worked).
- Vacation – 2 weeks as per the Collective Agreement to start, after 5 years, increases to 3 weeks.
Required Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 1-3 Years Manufacturing Experience desirable; the ability to work any shift is required
- Ability to communicate effectively, with fluency in English, Good verbal communications skills a plus
- Team player: ability to work as a team; Self-starter; adaptable to change; ability to prioritize needs; Leadership skills a plus
- Successful score on job skills assessment. Will be assessed by internal or external source to verify job skills, as well as reading and math comprehension.
- Must demonstrate the ability to safely lift up to 100 lbs. With a partner on a repetitive basis.
Job Responsibilities:
Summary: A Saw Operator member is primarily responsible stacking metal and following Saw lead instructions to ensure highest productivity. They need to have a sense of urgency while maintaining safety and quality expectations.
- Follow all safety protocol. Lead by example and hold your crew accountable to do the same
- Participate in pre and post shift meetings- encourage involvement, actions, and stretches
- Maintain department housekeeping standards
- Encourage team to complete STOP observations as scheduled or expected
- Have complete understanding of company quality standards and standard tolerances
- Maintain acceptable levels of internal scrap- less than 1.5%
- Maintain acceptable levels of customer returns- less than 0.5%
