Shifts Available and Hours: 

Day Shift Monday - Friday

7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

 

Job Summary: This position reports directly to the Assistant Production Manager. The Mold Engineer Technician is responsible for maintaining the Wagstaff AirSlip Billet Casting Systems, ensuring they are prepared to operate safely and efficiently.

 

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Completion of the Wagstaff 5-Day Training Course.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct chill casting experience or equivalent.

 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including teamwork, organization, self-motivation, adaptability to change, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changes in operating procedures.
  • Forklift and crane certification.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment while maintaining high standards of excellence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong safety record and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working long hours in high-temperature environments.
  • Certification in a skilled trade is an asset.
  • Previous experience as a technician or in a skilled trade is preferred.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operating billet production equipment and auxiliary items.
  • Preparing the casting table for the correct size, alloy, and log length, while monitoring the casting operation.
  • Repairing and maintaining Wagstaff molds, tables, and bottoms for cast units.
  • Ensuring proper gas flow and maintaining autoflow control systems.
  • Planning workflows using MVP, SAP, APICS, and other stocking tools.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and ensuring material replenishment.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to ensure quality and oversee accurate receiving.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
