Insurance and Risk Manager
We are looking to hire an Insurance and Risk Manager to provide strategic insurance advice to a dedicated business area and purchase insurance on behalf of the Hydro Group.
You will join the Hydro Insurance Department (HID), which is responsible for preparing and implementing Hydro’s overall insurance strategy and insurance programs.
HID ensures adequate and cost-efficient insurance against insurable risks related to physical assets and income. We actively contribute to reducing operational risks through risk engineering services and ensure optimized use of Hydro’s captive Industriforsikring AS.

About the job and your team
Your portfolio will primarily cover the insurance programs for Property Damage & Business Interruption and Construction All Risks. You will also contribute to the implementation of Hydro’s overall insurance strategy.
Working with a program includes the placement, administration, and implementation of the program, the broker service agreement process, and providing the business area with insurance advice, including claims.
You will also be a proactive and essential contributor in the HID management team and work closely with a range of stakeholders both internally (business areas and enterprise risk management function) and externally (insurance companies and brokers).
In HID, you will join an international team of 13 people including colleagues in Brazil, the UK and USA. We have broad experience in insurance and risk management and come from administrative, legal, finance, and risk engineering backgrounds.
Your qualifications
- Minimum 10 years’ insurance experience from e.g. an insurance company, corporate/buyer side, broker, law firm, preferably in a global setting.
- Good understanding of Property Damage & Business Interruption and Construction All Risks insurance. Knowledge of other lines of insurance an advantage.
- Relevant higher education, preferably within technical disciplines, alternatively finance or law
- Risk management
- Ability to foster relationships at all levels of the organization and across multiple locations and countries.
- Fluent in written and verbal English
- Good communication and presentations skills
