Summary: The Lab Technician will be responsible for assisting in verification that products meet the Hydro quality standards, especially as they pertain to product quality, traceability, and conformance to standards and process instructions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Administer the receiving process, prepare test specimens, perform tests, and maintain traceability.
- Prepare samples using band-saw, lathe, and CNC.
- Adheres to testing procedures and ensures compliance.
- Maintain a clean and efficient work space.
- Maintain the highest levels of ethical and compliant behavior.
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years Quality Experience or a degree in a Quality related field with ASTM testing procedures, e.g. B221, B557, etc. Experience with GD&T and print reading a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience and exposure to aluminum extrusion industry is a plus.
- Must have passion for safety. Must drive a safety culture where safety is the number one priority for all employees. Proven ability to intervene, recognize, and eliminate hazards.
- Quality background with experience in testing and inspection procedures.
- Good math skills and problem solving, ability to use a calculator and read a tape measure.
- Strong computer skills including intermediate Excel skills.
- Able to understand and adhere to lab and company quality documentation.
- Able to consistently meet or exceed production metrics.
- Able to work collaboratively with others and be a part of a high performing team.
- Ability to proficiently operate test and inspection equipment and perform a variety of destructive and non-destructive tests including, but not limited to, tensile tests, crush tests, flare tests, and etch tests.
- Contribute to team environment by engaging in good communication to support continuous improvement activities.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
Education and Work Requirements:
- Understands that performing job tasks in a safe manner is the highest priority.
- Reads and understands department JSA’s.
- Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines and wears appropriate PPE.
- Fills out “near miss” paperwork on any unsafe condition or action and reports any unsafe condition or act immediately to supervisor.
- Responsible for housekeeping and 5S in his or her respective areas of work or areas as directed by the supervisor.
- Cooperates and contributes to the creation of a safe, secure, and healthy working environment and to the achievement of the company’s environmental obligations and goals.
