Supplier Quality Engineer

Summary: The Supplier Quality Engineering function is the core of the quality group innovation.  Resources tasked with this function should be true engineering minds who can see inefficiencies, understand the metallurgy of the product and thrive on the shop floor working to solve problems alongside the operators.  They should be proficient in mass scale data analysis and interpretation and can communicate with and can relate to the mindset of an operator.  Resources in these positions should be highly proficient in training and coaching.  They should understand the metallurgy of the product.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing our manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for production.
  • Managing non-conforming material from vendors, mostly internal.
  • Work with vendors to bring them compliant to IATF standards.
  • Visiting vendor facilities and observing the manufacturing environment to review and assess their procedures.
  • Performing regular quality control audits to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with company and federal standards.
  • Reviewing incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality.
  • Conducting tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.
  • Maintaining detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
  • Serving as a liaison between our company's senior management and the vendors to identify quality issues and come up with solutions.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.  
  • Must be have experience in APQP documentation and complete customer PPAP’s.
  • IATF 16949 experience is a plus.

 

 Education and Work Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Metallurgy or Engineering-related degree.
  • 3-5 years in a similar quality role.
