Extruded Solutions is Hydro’s largest and most global business area. Our Business Area supplies aluminum profiles and profile-based solutions in various applications ranging from windows and furniture to cars and cruise ships. Within Extruded Solutions, we have business area staff functions based in Oslo, but we also have four core business units; Extrusion Europe, Extrusion North America, Building Systems and Precision Tubing.
 

Job Location: Phoenix AZ

  

Summary:  Oversees press operation to include; safety, safety training, housekeeping, quality, career and performance counseling of the press crews and die/profile optimization.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:  

 

  • Promotes an environment where doing things safely is the highest priority.
  • Ensures all employees fulfill their HSE responsibilities and sets the example for the team to follow.
  • Actively participates in workplace and behavioral observations.
  • Provides health and safety training to the team, ensuring the understanding of how to safely perform each task.
  • Lead accident/incident reviews and develop corrective actions.
  • Constantly monitor environmental, health and safety performance to ensure continual improvement.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace to eliminate or reduce risks as far as possible.
  • Continually drive housekeeping initiative and improvements
  • Responsible for his/her own health, security and safety and shall cooperate and contribute to the creation of a safe, secure and healthy working environment and to the achievement of the Company’s environmental obligations and goals
  • Conducts monthly safety training
  • Completes a minimum of two WOC per week per press
  • Audits and enforces safety policies and procedures
  • Audits and enforces good housekeeping policies and procedures
  • Cross-trains employees, develops staff that can cover all positions when needed
  • Hold daily meetings to review safety, production and housekeeping issues with employees
  • Update and maintain daily production board information at assigned press
  • Makes recommendations to die/profile optimization to maximize production and minimize scrap (extrusion speed, temperatures and billet length)
  • Must demonstrate a sense of professionalism and possess a positive attitude among all personnel. 
  • Complies with company safety and housekeeping specifications
  • Communicates and works well with fellow employees of all levels in a Team effort
  • Complies with lockout/tag out procedures
  • Monitors operating supplies to ensure production needs are met and not interrupted.
  • Has read and understands work instructions for all operations in the extrusion department.
  • Complies with confined space/permit.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

 

  

Job Requirements:  

 

  • Must be able to read and write plus understand and deliver basic commands in English.
  • Must read and understand all work and safety instructions relevant to their specific position.
  • Must be able to use and maintain all basic tools and measuring equipment pertinent to their specific position
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate proficiently with all personnel.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, up 8 to 12 hours shift.
  • Frequent lift of objects up to OSHA limits
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in extrusion setup and machine operation.  Will consider related training at an accredited technical center, etc.
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must clearly understand and enforce parameters stated in the LPL/SCS card instructions
  • Good math skills.

 

Education and Work Requirements:  

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
