Quality Calibration Technician

Job Summary: The Calibration Technician plays an integral role in assuring that measurement equipment used by their functional area(s) is properly calibrated and available for use.  These duties are assigned in addition to an employee’s regular job duties at the discretion of the Quality Assurance Manager and the employee’s direct supervisor.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifies gauges for calibration in a timely fashion to prevent late status.  Completes gauge calibration submit form for gauges to be sent out for calibration.
  • Prepares equipment for shipment when external calibration is required or physically drops off equipment at calibrator.
  • Ensures external calibration suppliers complete work as required, on time and using the correct standards.
  • Identifies, develops, and promotes calibration system enhancements and solutions for continuous improvement; requests modification and updates to SOP and work instructions as needed.
  • Ensures all calibration certifications are scanned correctly and in a timely manner into the database.
  • Works with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to address potential product concerns related to maintenance, calibration, or gauging issues; defines and implements effective corrective actions.
  • Serves as the primary calibration contact during internal audits and external inspections.
  • Enters information into the calibration database for calibration records and assign gage ID numbers, ensuring the database is correct and current at all times.
  • Assists Quality and Process Engineers in addressing, resolving, and monitoring quality-related issues with gauges.
  • Performs calibration activities with direction from Quality Manager.
  • Works with maintenance, engineering, production, planning and quality on scheduling for age oven calibration.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associates degree in one of the Engineering Sciences (or partial education with experience); mechanical, metallurgical or materials science preferred
  • 2 or more years of experience managing calibration or similar programs in a manufacturing environment


Demonstrated Abilities:

  • General understanding or knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025
  • Ability to multitask and maintain priorities regardless of interruptions.
  • Ability to retrieve measuring and test equipment from workstations.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Intermediate level computer skills (e.g., MS Word, Excel)
  • Document and record control experience preferred.
  • GAGEtrak experience preferred.
  • Ability to take direction from multiple sources.
  • Has a positive, quality-driven focus
