Finishing Department Manager

Job Location: Portland, OR

 

Summary: This challenging senior management position is a key member of the Portland Plant Lead Team directly reporting to the Plant Manager.  The position supervises and manages multiple work units, i.e., Anodizing, Coatings, Packing, Waste Water Treatment, and Joseph Cell, through subordinate supervisors.  Duties include visiting and directing employee safety and environmental compliance priorities & production goals for each work unit in three facilities, Main Plant, Riverside and Coatings within a 3.5-mile radius.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understands, leads by example (role model), and holds self and others accountable and responsible for performing all work within safety standards and best practices.
  • Supports and routinely participates in Safety Committee meetings.
  • Responsible for all environmental compliance rules within scope of assigned work units.
  • Reports on all unsafe & near miss work conditions
  • Responsible for meeting production / delivery goals as directed by the plant manager.
  • Responsible for staffing of assigned work units to include:  promoting a positive, respectful work environment, interviewing, training, discipline, cross leveling, evaluating & rewarding performance, address employee concerns / complaints, and resolve problems.
  • Mentors and develops management & leadership skills of subordinate supervisors.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Strong communication (verbal / written) and team interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for scheduling, data analysis, team building and reporting
  • Experience with lean manufacturing
  • Experience with Axapta & IMS preferred
  • Oracle application is preferred.

 

Education and Work Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field is preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office software
