Human Resources Manager

Job Summary: Responsible for the planning and execution of the day-to-day activities of the Human Resources department and employees.  Leads and coordinates HR functions/activities and implements people processes and procedures that help achieve organizational goals throughout the West Region.

 

 

Required Education/Experience:

  • At least 7 years of HR generalist experience in a union and manufacturing environment. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business or a related field

 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification
  • Previous experience in a multi-facility HR role
  • Multi-lingual skills are a plus. (Spanish, Vietnamese, Burmese, Moung)

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plant Lead Team member; initiate strategic and tactical solutions to support plant and corporate initiatives.
  • Enforce compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations and laws
  • Provide leadership, management, direction and support for the HR team.  Dotted line guidance and direction to Portland based GBS Payroll and Recruitment team members.  Provide biannual performance feedback on GBS team members to upline supervisor(s).
  • Assess, develop and implement training activities such as legal compliance, team building and department specific training; implement corporate trainings
  • Work collaboratively with managers to address performance concerns such as absenteeism, policy violation and behavioral concerns.
  • Investigate and resolve employee relations complaints; represent the company regarding compliance or legal matters.
  • Labor relations management including foster positive working relations with union leadership, business representatives, & shop stewards leaders.  Administer the collective bargaining agreement and facilitate negotiation of its successor agreement, address employee concerns, process grievances, participate in Boards of Adjustment and represent the company during arbitrations.
  • Support and administer benefit (annual open enrollment) and compensation/bonus programs to optimize plant and region performance
  • Partners with ENA GBS recruitment to perform outreach, interviewing, hiring and on-boarding processes.
  • Chairs the plant’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) committee.  Recruits volunteer team members to serve on the committee that determines CSR civic activities and annually donation allocations.
