Production Manager

Hydro Aluminum Metal a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of around 5,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and in the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in technical discipline; or 5 years hands on experience with progressive organization; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred but may be substituted with experience and ongoing continuation towards a degree)
  • Track record of leading a department toward improved equipment reliability
  • Good communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Experience with Manufacturing System in metal or process industry preferred



Preferred Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in an operations role in Manufacturing; preferred experience in metals industry: Knowledge of the casting process and molten metal background preferred.
  • Team player with good organizational skills, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines
  • Proven success in driving operational improvements: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and SPC principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to execute and deliver within required guidelines
  • Strong influencing leadership skills: Leadership experience directing a team of front-line leaders is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in front of employees and stakeholders of the organization.
  • Develop strong understanding of Hydro Processes and Systems



Job Responsibilities:

  • Key role in commissioning and start-up of Cassopolis casthouse
  • Responsible for developing a performance culture fostered on continuous improvements and competence development
  • Drive and develop an operational safety culture within the organization based on Hydro values
  • Responsible for establishing and develop an operational organization fit to meet business needs
  • Responsible for assessing/maturing the need for future investments to meet business objectives
  • Travel is less than 10% (i.e. visits to other Hydro plants or corporate office for meetings and/or training), except for the period ahead of the start-up where external training and visits at suppliers premises will be required
