Hydro Global Business Services (GBS) is an organizational area that operates as an internal service provider for the Hydro group. Its ultimate purpose is to deliver relevant IT, financial and HR business services to all business areas within the company.

About the job

 

You will be part of the Belgian accounting team, which is responsible for both internal and external financial reporting for four operational sites in Belgium: Ghlin, Eupen, Lichtervelde, and Raeren. These sites include one Remelt facility, one Die shop, and two Extrusion locations. Reporting is done per location and per business activity, resulting in a total of five separate reports submitted to the head office. While collaboration across sites is essential, the role will be primarily based in Raeren.

What you will be doing

 

  • Ensure timely and accurate internal reporting of monthly and yearly results per location/entity using SAP S/4HANA, Blackline, and Hyperion (HFM)
  • Prepare and manage external reporting requirements including VAT returns, Intrastat, Intra-Community Performance (ICP), and statutory annual accounts
  • Drive standardization, continuous improvement, and transformation initiatives within GBS Finance
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including payroll accounts, using Blackline
  • Collaborate with the Shared Service Center in Hungary to standardize SAP accounts for the Belgian locations

 

Additional information

 

Initial temporary (1-year) contract with the possibility of a permanent position.

We are primarily looking to fill this position full-time, but we also welcome applications from candidates who are available to work part-time at least 4 days per week.

What will make you successful?

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Financial Controller or Accountant
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and financial accounting statements
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required; French or other languages are a plus
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4HANA
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and database management

  • Strong customer service orientation and service mindset
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform well under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to support regular interaction with other locations and our Shared Service Center in Hungary
  • Excellent conflict handling abilities
