Machine Operator 2nd shift

Job Summary:

Material handler has responsibility to ensure the stable and safe flow of materials, operate industrial equipment to safely move materials around the warehouse, storage yard or similar locations. These movements must be in compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Programs and quality assurance systems to support the achievement of the sites goals and business objectives. Must properly store goods and materials, inspect product for accuracy and safely move to ensure timely and complete delivery.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties associated with packing totes and entering them into the A/X Dynamics system.
  • Perform duties to move coils, boxes, goods and materials.
  • Maintain stock and 5S in satellite cardboard and supply areas.
  • Locate material and safely operate forklift to load and position totes. 
  • Proficient use of equipment required by job function
  • Complete packing system and other documentation noting alloy, size, weight and customer information for labels as required.
  • Maintains material handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and reporting operator repairs to supervisor.
  • Stage, Move, Load and unload finished and unfinished products in a safe and efficient manner
  • Determine warehouse storage locations in keeping with general warehouse layout and to ensure accessibility. 
  • Maintain WIP storage and warehouse area and assure areas are clean & safe.
  • Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to maintain workflow or respond to emergency conditions.
  • Must be able to work 2nd shift (3pm - 11 pm) Monday - Friday 
  • Must be able to work overtime, including weekends

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be able to work 2nd shift and weekends
  • Ability to drive forklift and use jib and overhead cranes.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention required involving repetitive or diversified work requiring constant alertness or activity.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers, including decimals and fractions and the ability to use a calculator.
  • Ability to read and comprehend reference material such as production orders, prints and specifications.
  • Knowledge of process related standards.
  • Proven ability to develop successful partnerships with internal and external team members
  • Current and Valid Osha Forklift Operators certificate
  • Previous experience working in a heavy industrial and or manufacturing environment
  • Certified Production Technician
  • LEAN manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of HSE regulations
  • Ability to think critically and theoretically

  • Ability to exercise judgement within limitation of standard methods and procedure.
  • Communicate effectively any unexpected issues or resolutions to the appropriate staff.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition in accordance with 5 S standards.
  • Requires the ability to perform all duties within limitation of the standard methods and procedures, and in accordance with strict adherence to HSE, quality and productivity requirements.
  • Frequently standing for long periods of time, walking, use of hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands or arms, repetitive motion, close visual acuity, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 25 lbs. and occasional lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Position operates in a manufacturing production floor environment, which may subject employees to hazards including odors, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, noise and temperature changes.
