Quality Engineer

Job Summary: Perform functions to develop and implement quality systems for the recognition and implementation of continuous product and process improvements and cost reductions in the manufacture of the organization's products, working within the limits of established policies
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics or a related field of study, or significant successful experience in the application of related technical and management skills within the aluminum extrusion industry
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Knowledge of IATF-16949, the automotive core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and GDT)
Knowledge of Aluminum Association standards and ASTM standards
Competencies:
Ability to think critically and theoretically
Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Knowledge of process related standards.
Excellent PC Skills
Excellent skills in leading team-based problem solving
Proven ability to develop successful partnerships with internal and external team members
Job Responsibilities:
Review customer inquiries, requests for quotations and related specifications, evaluate the organization's capability for compliance, and recommend acceptance or make recommendations for exceptions. Maintain customer specifications as controlled documents.
Prepare and submit production part approval process documentation and samples for approval by customers to qualify new and revised products and processes.
Interpret product tolerances and specifications relating to product deviations and make quality disposition decisions.
Establish and maintain quality processes and documentation such as process flow diagrams, process failure mode and effect, control plans, process controls, work instructions, and inspection plans and records.
Perform quality audits and manufacturing processes, created related records and follow-up on nonconformities to closure in order to achieve continuous improvement.
Perform studies and report process capability reports to validate new or changes in manufacturing products and processes.
Maintain information in the quality database.
