Specialist Professional - Technical Customer Support

Hydro Aluminium Metal a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of around 5,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and in the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.

Salary Range: $155,861 to $174,663

Job Summary: 

Promote technical sales and marketing of value-added Hydro metals/billets in terms of increasing margin and volume.   Support Hydro’s customers in their development and growth by providing best in class Customer Technical Support (CTS) with focus on recycled, greener and more sustainable products.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree or doctorate from an accredited University is required.
  • Material Science/Metallurgy background is required.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the casting industry is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel as required to support customers (minimum of 30-50% travel).  
  • Strong background in aluminum extrusion and forming processes and operations
  • Strong understanding of the application of extrusion and forging alloys in various applications, automotive, transportation, general and consumer durable application.
  • Strong technical and scientific skills relating to the science and technology behind aluminum extrusion and forming processes.
  • Close adherence to best practices and strong attention to detail
  • Wide ranging communication and interpersonal skills, to be able to work well with a wide range of people from shop floor employees up to senior management or owners.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support sales to increase volume and/or margins by proactively engaging the customers in identifying and providing solutions in terms of:
    • New and optimized alloy needs for the customer
    • New opportunities and new products
    • Plan and execute CTS program with head of CTS and sales managers
    • Assist the sales team with technical expertise
  • Support customers on technical issues:
    • Offering extensive support on metallurgical matters.
    • Tailor-make services to general extrusion customers
    • Be the communication link between customer needs and requirements towards the production units – casthouses.
  • Support casthouses on technical issues:
    • Customer requirements of the product
    • Continuous improvements and new product offering
    • Maintenance of product quality and market quality demands
  • Manage and resolve customer claims and complaints
  • Use AMBS processes and procedure in executing all activities.
  • Ensure monitoring of strategic areas, technology watch, competitors, market trends and development.
  • Define and follow-up R&D projects and ensure customer and market driven programs are executed.
  • Participate and take active role in Industry and Technical forums to influence the agenda.
