Summary:

As a Fabrication Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the production / manufacturing processes within the Fabrication Department, Hydro Sidney’s largest department. This role involves managing the largest Department @ Hydro Sidney of approximately 150+ skilled workers, ensuring efficient production, maintaining quality standards, and implementing safety measures in the fabrication facility. Additionally, you will focus on designing, developing, and implementing new or revised production processes for the efficient and economical mass production of goods. The person in this role has the opportunity to be developed for roles of increasing responsibility.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience proven in fabrication, manufacturing, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of fabrication processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in implementing and managing safety procedures and quality control standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in designing the arrangement of manufacturing equipment for the most efficient and productive layout.
  • Knowledge of designing the sequence of production operations and specifying procedures for the fabrication of applicable tools and equipment.
  • Ability to conduct tests throughout all stages of production to determine control over applicable variables and troubleshoot/solve production problems.
  • Ability to provide guidance to product design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Understanding of ensuring that production processes and procedures comply with regulations.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Supervise and lead a team of fabrication staff, including welders, machinists, fabricators, and other related professionals. Delegate tasks, provide guidance, and conduct performance evaluations to ensure the team meets production targets.
  • Production Planning: Develop and implement production schedules to meet project deadlines and delivery requirements. Coordinate with other departments, such as engineering and procurement, to plan and streamline fabrication processes.
  • Quality Assurance: Enforce quality control measures to maintain high standards of production. Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure products meet specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process enhancement and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Optimize workflow and suggest technological advancements that can enhance production output.
  • Safety and Compliance: Enforce and oversee safety protocols and regulatory compliance within the fabrication facility. Conduct regular safety training sessions and ensure adherence to industry standards and guidelines.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products, ensuring adequate stock levels to meet production demands.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain records of production data, including output, quality control metrics, and other relevant information. Generate reports for senior management on production status, performance, and areas for improvement.
