Maintenance Manager

Job Summary: 

The Maintenance Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager.

 

The principal reason for this role is to manage, develop and improve the Maintenance Department for Hydro Sidney. This role will help drive improvements as well as direct and coordinate activities of the Maintenance Department in an industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5-10 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 7 – 10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility.

 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Exposure to aluminum extrusion industry is a plus

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe working environment for all in the department and enable professional growth
  • Experience in metals industry or at least in heavy manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and follow up communication is key to the success of this role
  • Use fundamental knowledge of aluminum alloy metallurgy, fabrication, microstructure development to improve process performance
  • Capital project development and execution
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff of skilled maintenance personnel
  • Develop, coordinate and manage all facility and machinery maintenance, preventative maintenance programs and activities
  • Ensure plant meets all safety, quality and environmental requirements
  • Develops and implements maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime
  • Plans maintenance operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing equipment repairs, improvements, and preventive maintenance
  • Reviews operational schedules and coordinates maintenance activities to ensure production and quality of products meet both internal and external customer specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
  • Develops or revises standard operational and work practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standard
