Press Set-Up Technician - 2nd shift

Job Location: Sidney, OH

 

Summary: Set-up all machines used in production.    Train personnel on the correct procedures used for machine set-up.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to perform routine inspection of heavy presses and general production machines and record findings after each setup.
  • Must be able to perform and run every job and be able to instruct operators on how to properly run all job and conduct SPC checks.
  • Become proficient in setting up all equipment used in production.  May be required to run machines and perform assembly work, from time to time as production schedules demand.    
  • Check the first piece sample to ensure that it matches the appropriate drawing.
  • Stop production and contact the Supervisor when quality problems are detected.
  • Report all machine defects to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area for all.  Good housekeeping is a requirement.
  • Exhibit a professional and positive approach at all times.
  • Create machining fixtures, modify existing fixtures when needed, modify and create programs as required.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • This position will require the use of a towmotor.  Therefore, successful completion of an internal towmotor training course is required.
  • Must be able to interpret engineering drawings. 
  • Must be able to correctly use tape measures, calipers, micrometers, lineal check gauges, height gauges, check fixtures, etc. 
  • Must be able to perform set-ups using the safest means possible. 
  • Must be able to detect visual material defects.
  • Must be able to read and write small numbers and letters; have ability to make arithmetic calculations.
  • Must be able to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Must follow plant-wide safety procedures at all times.
  • A Set-Up person should possess his/her own standard tools for use on the job.                         

 

Education and Work Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous set-up experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
