Job Summary:
In this key role, the Human Resources Manager is a strategic business partner and is a member of the location Lead Team, performing Human Resources related duties and carries out responsibilities in all aspects of the Human Resources process.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from four‑year college or university; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees or customers
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions, reports, manuals and handbooks
- Knowledge of safety requirements within a manufacturing setting
- Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, changing work environment
Job Responsibilities:
- Develops policy and manages human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training safety and health, and employee services by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate positions
- Analyzes wage information to determine competitive compensation plan
- Prepares forecast of employee needs in order to keep plant properly staffed
- Maintains human resource system that meets plant management needs
- Recruits, interviews, and selects employees to fill vacant positions
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals
- Keeps record of insurance coverage, pension plan, and personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations
- Develops and maintain Training Plan to meet the needs of the operation and employees
- Conducts wage survey within labor market to determine competitive wage rate
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations
- Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover
- Represents organization at human resource related hearings and investigations
- Keeps records of hired employee characteristics for governmental reporting purposes
- Supports and maintains the established HYDRO Quality Management System
- Manages two non-supervisor employees
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
