Health, Safety, and Environment Specialist

Job Summary: As an health, safety, and environment specialist, you will assist the HSE manager in building programs, processes, and the Hydro culture to foster an environment of courage, care and collaboration. As the health, safety, and environment specialist, you will be responsible in conducting and documenting Job Hazard Analyses, facilitate the safety programs, investigate accidents and incidents, and maintain the health and safety records for the plant. 


Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • A minimum of 2 years of HSE experience in an industrial or manufacturing work environment required.


Preferred Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Experience working with health and safety management systems
  • Applied workplace safety knowledge to include experience implementing the following critical safety programs: lockout/tagout, fall protection, confined space, crane safety, mobile equipment, contractor safety, and machine guarding



Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist HSE Manager to build programs, processes, and culture where team members have the skills, tools, and knowledge to complete their tasks in a manner protecting themselves, their co-workers, and the environment.
  • Conduct and document Job Hazard Analyses to be used in production environments.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root cause and document effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Observe and coach department managers and employees in hazard recognition identifying possible safety concerns and areas of improvement, while promoting a culture that believes in zero injuries and zero non-compliance incidents.
  • Maintain health and safety records to include developing and presenting company-wide training to employees in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Audit facilities for OSHA, fire, environmental, and local safety regulatory compliance to include ergonomics and hazardous material handling.
  • Provide technical support and direction for companywide environmental, health, & safety and medical compliance practices.
