Job Summary:

The role of the Quality Systems Engineer is the implementation and maintenance of best practices for quality processes and systems, working alongside all resources within the plant.

The focus of the Quality Systems Engineer is centered on business system improvement following the internal auditing that identify areas of improvement and generates the need for effective Corrective Action.  The Quality Systems Engineer supports each department by working closely with area leaders and personnel to transform processes, standards, and practices into best-in-class status.  

The position will focus on instilling consistency, standardization and discipline into plant level processes while establishing a culture focused on the fanatical reduction in product variation and improve quality compliance. This position works closely with all plant team members.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in successfully sponsoring and implementing quality processes.
  • Experience supporting cultural change within an organization and contributing to continuous improvement efforts aligned with a 'True North' approach.
  • HSD or GED.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor / IATF 16949:2016 Auditor certification (or willingness to get certified).
  • Demonstrated experience in APQP practices (or willingness to develop proficiency).
  • Tier I & Automotive PPAP knowledge & compliance.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline is preferred, Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Strong experience in training and coaching site resources on quality systems and compliance issues.
  • Ability to serve as a local quality compliance liaison with the corporate compliance organization.
  • Proven skills in coaching, teaching, and developing employees to enhance their skills and contribute to both personal and organizational growth.
  • Ability to collaborate with line operators and shop floor personnel to assess current conditions and drive sustainable improvements.
  • Expertise in training and coaching shop floor employees in real-time problem solving and quality principles.
  • Travel may be required in this role and should be expected at least several times yearly.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees Quality Systems Certification:
    • Oversees all site quality systems certifications (ISO, IATF and others as required). Oversees internal auditing, corrective action, external registrar auditing and serves as a facilitator of the management Review process.
  • Ensures Internal Quality Systems Compliance: Oversees deployment and efficient site use of internal quality systems (Corrective & Preventative Action, Change Control Management).
  • Compliant Pro Document Control Administrator (DCA): Oversees use and information management within the Compliant PRO Quality Systems platform.
  • Manages Standard Work Development & Maintenance: Manages standard operating practice and standard work documentation within the QMS. Coordinates updates and revisions. Coaches writing standard work and maintaining documentation compliance with current operating practices.
  • Customer Facing Quality Systems Interface: Coordinates compliance with customer-specific quality systems standard requirements including PPAP process oversite.
  • Leads Auditing program: Conducts Business Management System Internal Audits per the ENA Audit Schedule. The role should drive the sites to a state where the quality system is continuously sustainable. Oversees all critical auditing functions for the site. This includes manufacturing, Supplier and Quality Systems Auditing. Trains others within the organization to conduct required audits.
  • Compliance & Ethical Behavior: Demonstrated high standard for excellence and core belief in quality compliance, accuracy in reporting and ethical behavior within a manufacturing environment (laboratories, in particular). Must be capable of coaching and training others on subjects of compliance and ethics.
  • Extends the ‘reach’ of the Central Quality Organization in the continued journey to develop a sustainable quality culture at the plant level by supporting site resources using a collaborative and proactive approach.
  • Engages in Corrective Action and problem-solving activity. Participates in brainstorming and implementing agreed upon improvement plans.
