The purpose of the role is to ensure quality, cost and time in our procurement projects to support the set business targets. This means effective planning, execution and proper involvement with a number of stakeholders.

We have identified projects in Europe within the Packaging category that will allow us to create significant value while taking procurement to the next level: launching a tender in 2 steps to cover all of Europe while implementing specification optimization initiatives.

The main responsibilities of the Category Manager are:

  • Initiating projects by involving stakeholders to align scope and objectives of the project
  • Creating a project plan from initiation to implementation
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders and ensuring that all relevant stakeholders have been identified and are engaged at the appropriate times throughout the project
  • Coordinating with vendors; ensuring alignment of vendors’ project plans with own project and scheduling meetings, obtaining proposals, getting questions answered and facilitating the contracting process

    • Identify key suppliers from existing supplier panel and scout new suppliers to challenge incumbents
    • Lead all interactions with key suppliers
    • Lead complex and large-scale tenders, conduct fact-based negotiations with suppliers (building on supplier and industry analysis, benchmarks, cost structure analysis) using advanced tender assessment analytics built in conjunction with the BA Procurement Analyst
    • Review and select suppliers with whom we can build long term customer/supplier relationships
    • Negotiate, draft and finalize multi-year contractual agreements establishing strong commercial and legal contract terms
    • Lead and develop supplier management initiatives, e.g. identification and tracking of KPIs, business review meetings, savings initiatives

  • Acting as a leader in managing the total cost of ownership (TCO) within the category coordinating all actors in procurement as well as all functional stakeholders e.g. operations, supply chain. Identify, develop and lead specification, demand and process improvement initiatives for the category
  • Communicating responsibilities and updates to all stakeholders to keep them on track during the project and to hit the deadlines
  • Supporting implementation and transition; same responsibilities as during the procurement process (planning, coordination, and communication) but now focused on the implementation to ensure continuity of knowledge and value creation hitting the bottom line

In the procurement projects, you will leverage proven methodologies to optimize the spend category. A total-cost-of-ownership approach will allow you to capture the full value available and find new sources of competitive advantage. You will also leverage the power of analytics, revamp the operating model characterized by digital, and achieve a new step-up in impact delivery.
