Service Management Specialist

Hydro Global Business Services (GBS) is an organizational area that operates as an internal service provider for the Hydro group. Its ultimate purpose is to deliver relevant IT, financial and HR business services to all business areas within the company.

Role purpose

The role is responsible for the support of IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and practices facilitating IT Services (special focus on ERP business applications) to enable IT support and project teams deliver BAU support and various projects effectively and efficiently.

The major purpose of the role is to serve locations, IT support and project teams who rely on ITSM processes, practices, tools, end-users to receive or deliver their services.


• Ensure stable ITSM processes, practices and activities continuation and related improvements
• Service and change requests management, coordinating issue resolution on incidents and problems
• Identifying and tracking cases which require special attention and escalation
• Analyzing & identifying ITSM areas to improve, proposing innovative ideas while coordinating these improvements with technical and process owners
• Collaborating with multiple resolver teams, business and senior leadership
• Proactive solution/process monitoring, improvement proposals and initiatives
• Preventive ITSM process support
• Ownership of complex projects/assignments related to the IT support tool and ITSM processes
• Creating reports for leadership team
• Participating in functional reviews and working with developers, consultants and architects
• Dedicated and highly focused to help and support project teams during critical business activities
• Contribute with input to designing, carry out testing, prepare user guides
• Train ITSM processes in collaboration with tool expert teams
• Support the prevailing transport and release management process
• Perform daily tasks in the global ticketing system
• Share knowledge back and forth within the team


• IT/Business Degree or Equivalent
• 4+ years of relevant experience in ITSM with hands-on application management experience
• ITIL v3 or 4 Foundation
• Fluent in English is mandatory
• In depth understanding of the IT Service Management processes / ITIL practices
• Solid ITSM application with reporting knowledge (preferably on Solution Manager and/or ServiceNow)
• Microsoft Office literate (Excel pivot and vlookup too)
• Basic understanding of an ERP solution
• Experience with remote/dotted line management of staff in multiple countries
• Team player, customer oriented through striving to understand business needs
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
• International travel may be required occasionally based on business need
