Maintenance Supervisor
Hydro Aluminium Metal a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of around 5,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and in the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.
SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE:
The Maintenance Supervisor’s primary responsibility is to manage the execution of the Maintenance operations at site to ensure failure prevention and failure restoration to an operable condition.
The Maintenance Supervisor supports the operation by safely performing proactive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and assisting in maintaining spare parts inventory. This role continuously works on improving processes to reduce downtime, utilizing open lines of communication to resolve problems in a cost efficient and expedient manner. Responsibilities include fostering a safe and reliable work environment by meeting Hydro and local Health, Environmental, Safety and Housekeeping standards - secured by following both internal and external standards
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
SAFETY:

Responsible for safe work practices of the Maintenance activities by observing and enforcing all applicable EHS rules, including the 5S standard and implementation of improvement actions.
LEADERSHIP / PEOPLE:
-
Supervise the Maintenance technicians' team by monitoring workflow, planning and scheduling jobs, communicating job expectations, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

Responsible for the competence development of the maintenance technicians, including cross training and developing succession plan.

Maintain and promote safe work environment and safe work practices

Act as a resource for team member question for maintenance activities

Analyze situations and take proactive decisions as needed

Coach and engage employees in AMBS principles to improve work efficiency and “eliminate waste”
OPERATIONNAL EXCELLENCE:

Responsible for implementing the Maintenance Management loop processes and developing a Reliability culture.

Responsible for the plant utilities operation (electrical distribution, gas, water, compressed air) and spare parts management.

Collaborate cross-functionally and/or utilize resources to be an avid team player.

Act as a subject matter expert; train technicians and drive continuous improvement initiatives with his team by promoting and applying the AMBS principles such as Root Cause Analysis and defect elimination.

Update and improve PM program and SOPs in accordance with maintenance best practices.

Perform administrative functions: SAP workflow, Incident reporting, Evaluations, Audits, etc
OPERATIONAL PREPAREDNESS AND START-UP ACTIVITIES:

Contribute to develop the Maintenance activities workstream in the Operational Preparedness Plan ahead of the plant start-up.

Contribute to the plant commissioning, start-up, and ramp-up.
SCOPE:

Maintenance of all assets and equipment in the various production areas.

Maintenance and operation of the plant utilities and common infrastructures (electrical distribution, gas, water, compressed air, building)
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a team lead/ supervisor in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment; Knowledge of molten metal background preferred.

Leadership experience directing a team of hourly employees is required.

Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines
-
Proven success in driving operational improvements

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Develop strong understanding of the SAP ERP System

Ability to execute and deliver within required guidelines

Must be able to work cohesively in a team environment.

Ability to communicate effectively in front of employees and stakeholders of the organization.

Team player with good organizational skills

Work with contractors and vendors to schedule service and get required items to complete work and projects.
EDUCATION AND SKILLSET:

High School Diploma/ GED is required; college degree or trade certification is preferred.

Experience with Preventative Maintenance System is preferred

Effective communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills are required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Direct reports to include the team of Maintenance Technicians, and Contractor management.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a heavy industrial environment. where individual will have exposure to substantial heat and loud noises. May occasionally be exposed to fumes and airborne particles. Part of the work is performed in a climate-controlled office setting. Role also requires physical duties in manufacturing facility maintaining industrial equipment in extreme temperatures. Uniforms and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment are provided.
