Shipping Receiving Specialist

Hydro Aluminium Metal a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of around 5,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and in the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.

 

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE:

The Shipping & Receiving Specialist supports the operation by effectively coordinating all the logistical activities from raw materials to finished goods while adhering to all Hydro principles and policies including safety and quality. The position requires excellent communication skills and effective coordination with both internal and external customers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Schedule deliveries for incoming raw material and allocate deliveries to purchase orders.
  • Issue and maintain all documentation of shipments and receivables.
  • Responsible for daily operation of scales.
  • Efficiently perform the goods receipt of the incoming raw materials
  • Complete (APICS and SAP) transactions for alloys and metals
  • Follow up dross contracts and deliveries.
  • Communicate with drivers, customers, vendors, operators, and management.
  • Create Bill of Ladings for outbound shipments.
  • Daily / monthly reconciliation and record retention.
  • Follow-up of non-conformities in authority fields
  • Support and assist the Scrap Buyer and Materials Manager as needed.
  • Work with Production Planner if specific materials need priority.
  • Adhere to Housekeeping and HES principles and policies.
  • Maintain safe working conditions.
  • Implement actions decided by management.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and property damage.

 

  COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Previous experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal and external customers.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Detail oriented with good problem solving and customer service skills.
  • High energy level and the ability to handle several urgent tasks at once.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a heavy industrial environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Uniforms and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (when required) are provided.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Role requires ability to stand, kneel, and climb stairs.

 

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position on-site. Regular work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm but may vary according to shift assignment and demand.

 

TRAVEL:

Travel is less than 10% (i.e., visits to other Hydro plants or corporate office for meetings and/or training).

 

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

None required for this position.

 

WORK AUTHORIZATION:

Must be eligible to work in the United States.
