Supervisor, IT Support

Hydro Global Business Services (GBS) is an organizational area that operates as an internal service provider for the Hydro group. Its ultimate purpose is to deliver relevant IT, financial and HR business services to all business areas within the company.


Role purpose:


  • The country IT Supervisor is responsible for managing the work of the local IT team by providing administrative direction and technical support for daily operational activities.
  • Sets targets to his/her direct reports and measures performance against them as well as maintaining a motivating environment at both individual and team level.
  • Secures the overall health of local IT infrastructure components (e.g. computers, servers, wired / wireless networks, storage) and locally managed applications.
  • Reviews and refreshes documentations on a regular basis. Keeps hardware intentory up to date and helps finance by controlling spendings on IT.
  • Ensures that Hydro GBS IT Architecture, Security, Operational standards, Policies and Strategy are followed on the locations, also that requirements from local business are understood in the setting of policy and strategy.
  • Keeps contact with local business management as a customer relation by representing GBS IT and promotes GBS IT standards and in general the standardization of IT tools to the Business.




  • Monitoring, installation and regular maintenance of IT infrastructure components (e.g. computers, servers, wired / wireless networks, storage) and operating systems, firmware, applications.
  • Vendor management (ordering hardware and managing services provided by 3rd parties: e.g. telephony)
  • Troubleshooting and supporting resolution of incidents and completing requests via ticketing portal (measured against SLAs)
  • Taking part in IT change management flow
  • Maintaining application specific user accounts, and shared / service user accounts, computer objects, security groups, group policies in Active Directory
  • Maintaining location specific IT documentations; keeping SW license and HW inventory up to date
  • Be a representative of GBS IT towards local business
  • Participation in projects initiated by GBS PMO and taking part in the roll-out of new services, applications
  • Complying with local legislation
  • Complying with GBS strandards and policies (e.g. IT Architecture, IT Security, Controlling)
  • Complying with HSSE regulations, policies and Standard operating Procedures.
  • Perform all other tasks upon the instructions of the superior in charge which may be necessitated by the operations of the related unit and which do not conflict with any applicable laws, statutory provisions and company rules


People management


  • General People Management tasks, coordinating the work of your team
  • Setting goals to your team members and measuring performance against them
  • Remote/dotted line people management
  • Strong management skills to enforce appropriate deliverable of team members. Service champion and excellent communicator. Ability to inspire.


Budget / KPIs


  • Create and monitor department budget vs actual spendings during the entire year and make necessary steps if needed
  • Follow and make actions regarding budget initiatives proposed by management
  • Continuously develop and monitor the major KPIs to measure the performance and quality




  • Min. 5 years of experience in IT support and/or operating computers, servers, storage, wired / wireless networks
  • Bachelor/Vocational Degree in IT
  • Fluency in English and Swedish is mandatory. Any other language is a plus
  • Exposure to and understanding of a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Extensive infrastructure and application knowledge
