Job Summary:

The successful candidate for this position will be accountable for health, safety, housekeeping and environmental compliance. They’ll follow the Extrusion Business Systems (EBS) Principles, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and proactively solve customer complaints.

This role ensures that product meets specified standards throughout the entire mill and plays a crucial role in maintaining product quality and consistency. The successful candidate assists with maintaining inspection tools by verifying the accuracy of measuring equipment to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

This role will interface/program various quality systems within Cressona. The successful candidate will have an above average knowledge of customer requirements and ensure the standards are met. As needed, this role will provide training and support to shop floor team members.

Shift Information:

This is a night shift position- typically 6:00 pm- 6:00 am.  The training may be completed on dayshift.

What you will be doing

 

  • Quality Inspection: Regularly inspect extruded products to ensure they meet specifications, using tools like micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring devices (CMM, Ascona, DataMyte).
  • Documentation: Record inspection results, report non-conformances, and maintain quality documentation for traceability. Assist with PPAP’s to meet customer requirements as directed. Disposition NCR’s for items produced on assigned shift.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitor the extrusion process to identify any deviations from standard procedures or specifications.
  • Tool Calibration: Ensuring all tools and instruments meet specified tolerances and standards. This involves adjusting, testing, and validating equipment to meet required precision levels.
    • Performing routine checks and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure long-term reliability.
    • Recording calibration data, results, and certifications to maintain compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
    • Keeping track of tool inventory, scheduling calibration activities, and managing calibration intervals.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and communicate process issues with production teams to ensure timely resolution of quality concerns.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company and industry quality standards, including ISO, IATF, or other relevant certifications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate/Lead quality improvement initiatives to reduce UPS and optimize processes throughout the plant. This includes Extrusion, Fab, PLS, etc.

Required Education/ Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Extruder A Technical Knowledge of extrusion processes, materials, and quality testing methods.
  • Attention to Detail for spotting defects, irregularities, or non-conformance with standards.
  • Problem-Solving Skills to quickly identify and rectify quality issues.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills to effectively work across departments and with clients.
  • Data Analysis Skills to interpret quality control data and make informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of Quality Standards, ISO, IATF, or other customer-specific standards.
  • Familiarity with measurement tools, calibration procedures, and industry standards (such as ISO/IEC 17025).
