Job Summary:
Quality Technician B is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves advanced inspection, testing, and analysis, as well as mentoring junior technicians and production team members and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Technician B acts as a key liaison between production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve complex quality issues.
Starting Rate of pay:
$26.02/hr plus $1.00 shift diff on 3rd shift.
Shifts Available and Hours:
3rd shift M - F (10.00PM - 6.30AM).
What you will be doing
- Can perform all responsibilities performed by a Quality Technician A.
- Performs advanced inspections (CMM and/or Vision system/Faro Arm) and testing (Weld analysis) of materials, components, and finished products using precision instruments and measurement systems. Interprets technical drawings, specifications, and industry standards to ensure compliance.
- Participates in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for nonconformances and customer complaints.
- Develops and helps to maintain quality documentation, including inspection plans, work instructions and reports.
- Supports calibration and maintenance of measurement equipment.
- Trains and mentors Quality Technician A and production team members on inspection techniques, quality standards and processes.
- Collaborates with quality engineering and production teams to implement process improvements and reduce defects.
- Participates in, or leads, internal audits and assists with external audits as required.
- Ensure compliance with the IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Measure and record and perform basic SPC analysis of key product/process data
- Provide accurate and timely data to Operations and Engineering group
- Maintain a clean and safe work area for all. Good housekeeping is a requirement.
- Exhibit a professional and positive approach at all times.
- Must be willing to cross-train on other jobs throughout the plant, as needed.
- When conditions dictate, overtime may be required (with little or no prior notification).
What will make you successful?
Required Education/Experience:
- A high school diploma is required.
- Knowledge of industry standards, IATF 16949, ISO 9001.
- Knowledge and understanding of PPAP and APQP requirements.
- Strong knowledge and use of basic statistics i.e mean, median, mode, Cp, Cpk
- Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SAP (S4)
- Must demonstrate – by means of a functional test - the ability to setup the CMM (portable or fixed table and/or Vision system) and the sample piece to be measured so as to assure correct measurements.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- 2 year technical degree or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment is desired (Automotive environment is preferred).
- Previous experience working in quality assurance is preferred.
- Must be able to respond quickly to problems; have ability to work in a stressful environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and managers in both written and verbal form.
- Must be able to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Must pass a drug/alcohol screen and physical exam. (Note: Accommodations will be made in accordance with The Americans with Disabilities Act).
- Must be able to lift approximately twenty to fifty (20-50) pounds frequently during a scheduled shift.
- Must successfully complete a ninety (90) day orientation period.
