GIS Expert, Hydro Rein

We are now looking to hire a Geographic Information System (GIS) expert to join our expanding organization. This role is in our Technology team, alongside experts from other disciplines where you will work with a variety of projects at different project stages across Rein’s current and future markets.
You will be a focal point by providing comprehensive technical expertise and GIS support across the renewables business, ensuring high quality data standards are adhered to both internally and externally.

Responsibilities
You will be the GIS expert for Rein’s organization throughout different project phases (screening, development, design, construction, operation).
Key tasks will be to:
- Be the contact for any GIS topics in Hydro Rein projects.
- Perform system administrator tasks related to the GIS software.
- Ensure the development of our GIS systems, software, and methodologies to support the development and implementation of our renewable energy portfolio.
- Carry out GIS data processing and analysis for renewable energy projects.
- Actively participate in project teams to select project sites, optimize layouts and participate if needed in site visits/public consultations etc.
- Optimize project layout in collaboration with wind and solar resource specialists, to maximize production while taking into consideration potential environmental and social constraints.
- Create 3D models and visualization of wind and solar projects.
- Train team members on the use of GIS.
- Stay up to date with industry advancements and green technologies.

Qualifications
- Higher education in Geography, GIS/Geometrics or equivalent (master’s degree is a plus)
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role, working with ESRI platform and ArcGIS software including geospatial analysis, geodatabases, and geodata like vector, raster and OGC-WMS/WFS
- Experience within renewable energy (e.g. wind, solar), from screening of sites to development and construction.
- The ability to use Python or similar for scripting and automation would be an advantage
- Experience in projects visualization is an advantage.
- Fluent in English, Scandinavian language is a plus.
Additional information
You will report to Head of Technology. The preferred location for this role is in Oslo/Norway, but it might be possible to work in our office in the Hague/Netherlands if a preferred candidate is already based there.
