Senior Legal Counsel, Hydro Rein

We are now looking to hire a Senior Legal Counsel with renewable energy experience, to strengthen our existing team and work with our attractive portfolio of renewable energy assets under development in the Nordics!

About the job and your team

You will be joining our existing team of five lawyers, currently based in Norway, the Netherlands and Brazil. 


Like the rest of the team, you will be responsible for:

  • leading legal workstreams related to international renewable investments, project development and financing and coordinate related internal decision processes;
  • dealing with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas;
  • contributing to creating value for our business; and
  • ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and company policies.

 

Key tasks will include:

  • advising on regulatory issues, including energy laws, environmental legislation, permitting processes and local government approvals;
  • drafting and negotiating agreements (e.g., equity agreements, power purchase agreements, construction agreements, O&M agreements, supply agreements, finance agreements that minimize risks and maximize legal rights;
  • performing and supporting due diligence;
  • providing expert and strategic legal advice to our management and decision markers;
  • managing and coordinating external legal advisors and relations to investment partners and service providers; and
  • limited international travel.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant international projects/transaction experience, from recognized Norwegian, Swedish or international law firm and/or relevant corporates.
  • Experience from legal work related to renewable investments and projects (e.g. project development, project finance, regulatory) is required.
  • Fluent in English and Norwegian or Swedish, both oral and written. 
  • Uncompromising integrity.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and "can do" attitude.
  • Value-driven, with high focus on collaboration.
