What you will be doing

SCOPE:

Perform Coil handling functions as part of the full Tube Mill Operator position, in compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Programs and quality assurance systems to support the achievement of the sites goals and business objectives. Perform duties to set up, adjust, and operate the in-line annealer and coiler equipment, determining appropriate settings and operational sequences, within the limitations of standard methods and procedures. Troubleshoot Coiler operation in areas relating to manufacturing problem resolution and process improvement, working within the limits of established policies. Perform duties to set-up and operate coil purging equipment.

 

What will make you successful?

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to handle basic math.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers and tape measure, where interpretation is required.
  • Ability to operate a jib crane, overhead crane, and electric pallet jacks.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple reference material such as printed instructions and blueprints.
  • Excellent mental and visual attention to monitor operations involving repetitive or diversified work requiring constant alertness or activity.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of process related standards.
  • Proven ability to develop successful partnerships with internal and external team members.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience working in a heavy industrial and or manufacturing environment
  • Certified Production Technician is a plus
  • LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of HSE Regulations
  • Strong understanding of mechanical components is a plus
  • Knowledge of material sciences, metallurgy, aluminum is a plus
  • Ability to think critically and theoretically
  • Intermediate or better Microsoft excel skills
