Hydro Global Business Services (GBS) is an organizational area that operates as an internal service provider for the Hydro group. Its ultimate purpose is to deliver relevant IT, Financial and HR services to all business areas within the company.
GBS IT & Indirect Procurement is mainly responsible for sourcing, purchasing and vendor management for all IT & Indirect contracts in Hydro. GBS Procurement has team members located in Norway, Hungary and Brazil.
We are now looking for an IT Category Manager - located at our HQ in Oslo. This is a great opportunity for a forward leaning candidate with a commercial mindset, willing to learn and grow in the IT procurement field.

What you will be doing
The IT Category Manager is a key member of the GBS Procurement team. You will report directly to the Senior Manager IT Procurement and will work closely with senior internal stakeholders. You will collaborate across Business Units and will also work closely with the rest of the category management team.
Challenges that will make you grow:
- Lead global strategic sourcing events and negotiations with key vendors and establish long term agreements to implement the defined strategic plan.
- Act as a leader in managing the total cost of ownership (TCO) within the category, partnering with relevant stakeholders to identify, develop and lead initiatives to improve specification, demand, and processes.
- Work closely with stakeholders (e.g. Business Areas and senior leadership) to develop effective cost-reduction strategies and execution plans, while ensuring vendors meet all requirements for project timeline, service levels, and security considerations.
- Drive long term supplier performance through development and implementation of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and development of Performance Improvement Plans for any under-performing vendors.
- Review and challenge current purchasing process for IT services.
- Ensure compliance to all Hydro Procurement Policies and all applicable laws.
What will make you successful?
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, category or strategic sourcing roles focused on IT categories, in a global context
- Ability to work effectively in a multinational, multicultural environment
- Experience with Total Cost of Ownership
- Experience working within a project management environment
- Excellent analytical skills, ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets
- Strategic and commercial mindset – combined with strong stakeholder engagement skills
- An open-minded and forward-looking approach to emerging procurement trends
- Demonstrated ability to identify risks and effectively act as a first line of defense
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Fluency in English

Additional information
Office location to be Hydro’s headquarter at Vækerø in Oslo, Norway. Some travelling will be required.
