Hydro Aluminium Metal is a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods, and high-purity aluminium, with a global production network of around 6,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminium production is based on renewable energy.
We are looking for a curious, analytically sharp Market Analyst to join our Market Analysis team within Metal Sourcing & Trading (MST) at our Vækerø office in Oslo. If you are energised by the intersection of commodities, global economics, and world affairs, we would love to hear from you.
As part of MST, Hydro's hub for LME trading, hedging, and physical aluminium sourcing — you will develop deep expertise in aluminium markets, deliver analysis that informs decisions at the highest levels of the organisation, and build digital solutions that strengthen our analytical capabilities. Our work is dynamic and evolving, so we are looking for someone who is adaptable, intellectually curious, and keen to contribute across a range of initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, gaining broad exposure to Hydro's operations.

What you will be doing
- Develop models, tools, and digital solutions that improve the efficiency and quality of our analytical work
- Collect and analyse data, conduct market research, and track developments in technology, regulation, and market trends across the aluminium industry
- Use machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) for model and application development
- Produce short- and long-term price forecasts with clear, well-reasoned narratives
- Monitor competitor activity and follow relevant policy and legislative developments
- Support other departments with ad hoc analysis and project work, including support for strategic investment decisions
- Present findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders, including senior and executive leadership
- Travel to industry conferences and events to expand your network and deepen your market knowledge
What will make you successful?
To thrive and succeed in this role, we believe the right candidate has the following qualifications:
- A master’s degree in finance, economics, business analytics, or a related discipline
- 3–5 years of relevant professional experience
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with solid Python programming ability
- An interest in commodity markets, global politics, macroeconomics, and statistical modelling
- Proficiency in data modelling, research, and working with complex datasets
- A proven track record in using various tools for data handling, management, and analytics
- Experience working in cross‑functional and ‑cultural environments
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
