Energy Strategy & Policy is a business unit of Hydro Energi. The unit is responsible for the areas of strategy, sustainability, political frameworks, long-term analysis and technology. Long-term Analysis in Hydro Energy works to identify and understand long-term trends in energy markets, with the main focus on the Nordic power market and Brazil. We develop price forecasts that are used in strategic planning and as a basis for decision-making for investment projects throughout Hydro. The team collaborates closely with disciplines in policy formulation and technology development.

You will obtain valuable experience, and you get to tackle relevant tasks and real challenges, with support from experienced colleagues. You will also get to participate in a joint program with all the Hydro summer interns, allowing you to learn more about our business and acquire interdisciplinary knowledge. All the while, we expect and want you to have a fun experience during the summer.
You will gain valuable insight into the role of the energy market in the green shift, and practical experience with analysis work in a large industrial group. The internship provides the opportunity to work closely with experts in energy, sustainability, policy and technology.
What you will be doing
There are two available positions at Hydro Energi, one within Analysis and one within Sustainability.
Analysis:
The tasks will be adapted to your background and expertise. Examples of tasks include: Working with various sensitivities after our Long-Term Analysis; better modelling of electric cars in our power market model; prepare the ground for a new climate-neutral 2050 analysis, including how direct electrification can replace hydrogen in some hard-to-abate sectors
Sustainability:
As an intern in the Energy Sustainability Unit, you will work with analysis and strategic projects that are in line with Hydro Energy’s Sustainability strategy, which are projects that contribute to reaching our sustainability ambitions and targets. Our sustainability agenda covers social responsibility, environment, and climate. Projects could also be streamlining or automation of tasks using digital tools. Examples of work-areas are: Human- and workers' rights; Social impacts of renewable energy projects; Benchmarking with other companies; Responsible supply chains; Materiality assessments; Communication material on sustainability
Tasks will be adapted to your background and competence.
What will make you successful?
- Master study in Economics, Management of Technology, Energy and Environmental Engineering, Industrial Economics and Technology or a related field.
- Interest in the energy market and energy transition.
- Familiarity with digital tools such as Excel and Powerpoint.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience with modelling is an advantage.
