Summer Internship 2027 - Technology Asset Management, Oslo
Oslo, 03, NO, 0283
TOP Asset management is a department that supports all Hydro Aluminium Metals production sites, when it comes to asset management, maintenance and the digitalization in this area. The department consists of Subject Matter Experts in various areas, a team supporting the use and development of the maintenance process support tools, and a team of Reliability & Asset Intelligence Engineers.
There are currently several initiatives ongoing in Aluminum metal focusing on the potential that lies in utilizing the large database of technical history. The key challenge is to develop practical and scalable solutions that can be effectively adopted in industrial operations. By leveraging large amounts of historical and real-time data, these solutions aim to support data driven maintenance decisions, improve asset reliability, and create measurable operational value.
What we offer you
An internship in Hydro is a great way for you to try out and learn more about your field of study. You will obtain valuable experience, and you get to tackle relevant tasks and real challenges, with support from experienced colleagues. You will also get to participate in a joint program with all the Hydro summer interns, allowing you to learn more about our business and acquire interdisciplinary knowledge. All the while, we expect and want you to have a fun experience during the summer.
The position offers the opportunity to visit one of Hydro's production plants - most likely Årdal, Karmøy or Sunndal. This role offers the chance to experience industrial operations firsthand. You will learn how digital and data-driven solutions are implemented in practice, working closely with end users to understand how technology supports maintenance, asset management, and operational performance.
What you will be doing
Asset management is heavily involved in terms of digital maintenance. A key focus area is driving the digital transformation of maintenance processes, with the goal of creating value through effective use of data. For Asset Intelligence, we attempt to do so via democratization of data, providing contextualized asset visualizations and anomaly detections with early warnings when there are deviations in the data.
During your internship you will:
- Analyze operational and maintenance data to identify trends, patterns and opportunities for improvement.
- Design and implement anomaly detection models and early warning systems to proactively identify deviations and potential equipment failures.
- Develop analytics solutions using Python and PySpark for data processing, modeling, and predictive maintenance use cases.
- Create and optimize Kusto Query Language (KQL) queries to extract, transform, and visualize large datasets.
- Develop and enhance data visualizations that provide meaningful context and insights into asset performance and health.
What will make you successful?
-
Master's degree in Robotics and Automation, Maintenance Engineering with a focus on Data Analytics, or Engineering with a focus on Programming, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, or a related field.
-
Experience with automation.
- Experience with programming, data engineering, and cloud-based technologies, such as Python, PySpark, Databricks, and Azure.
- Experience with analytic tools and presentations.
We encourage applicants with relevant or transferable skills and experience to apply, even if their background does not align perfectly with every skill listed above.
