What you will be doing

SCOPE:
The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for leading advanced quality engineering activities to ensure product and process compliance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement across Hydro Precision Tubing manufacturing operations.
This role serves as the primary technical quality authority for assigned customers, products, and processes—driving systemic corrective actions, risk mitigation, process capability improvement, and supplier quality performance aligned with IATF-16949 and automotive OEM requirements.
The position operates with a high level of autonomy and is expected to influence plant strategy, customer relationships, and operational excellence initiatives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Customer Quality Leadership

• Serve as primary quality interface for key automotive and industrial customers (e.g., Mahle, Denso, Sanhua, GM).
• Lead customer claim management, including containment, root cause analysis, and permanent corrective action implementation.
• Drive closure of 8D reports to customer acceptance within required timelines.
• Lead customer visits, audits, and performance reviews.
• Manage escalation processes including TSIP / MSIP or equivalent supplier performance programs.
2. Advanced Problem Solving & Risk Mitigation
• Lead cross-functional root cause investigations using DMAIC, 8D, A3, and Shainin methodologies.
• Drive systemic corrective actions focused on prevention, not containment.
• Conduct Lessons Learned deployment across plants and programs.
• Lead risk assessments tied to field performance, warranty, and product safety.
3. APQP & Product / Process Launch
• Support APQP activities for new programs, transfers, and engineering changes.
• Develop and approve:
• Process Flow Diagrams
• PFMEA / DFMEA reviews
• Control Plans
• Inspection Plans
• Work Instructions
• Submit and approve PPAP packages to customer requirements.
• Validate process capability (Cp/Cpk, Pp/Ppk) and MSA studies.
4. Manufacturing Process Quality Engineering
• Establish process controls for extrusion, drawing, cutting, and value-add operations.
• Drive scrap and CoPQ reduction initiatives.
• Lead statistical analysis of process performance.
• Implement poka-yoke, error-proofing, and automation validation.
• Support CTL, press, and fabrication quality improvements.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required:Fully Billingual English/Spanish
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
• 7–10+ years quality engineering experience in manufacturing
• Automotive or heat exchanger / extrusion industry experience
• Aluminum extrusion / tubing manufacturing experience
•OEM / Tier-1 or Tier-2 supplier environment exposure
